Canopy Storage
Canopy storage can make or break a touring setup.
Easily accessed, space effective and useful canopy storage ideas.
There’s only so much room in there, it needs to be utilised effectively.
Canopy ceiling storage
To maximise the internal ceiling storage, I’ve added some eye nuts.
I hook up some straps, which allows me to store things up and out of the way.
I store items like fishing rods, picnic blankets and soft coolers up here.

Canopy Storage Boxes
To make use of the rear of the tub, there are 3 storage boxes.
1 box for spare parts.
1 box is for bulky pantry items.
1 box for diving gear.

Canopy storage plans + templates to kickstart your canopy fit-out.
Dive gear storage
The majority of my dive gear is in the rear storage boxes.
This stays on the passenger side, which is the ‘wet’ side of the canopy- away from electrical, which is the ‘dry’ side.
This leaves the: speargun, fins and wetsuit.
The speargun sits in front of the storage boxes, behind the fridge.
I remove the rubbers to make it easier to access but this isn’t a necessity.
Fins sit behind the storage boxes and slide in the space before the back of the canopy.
The wetsuit gets folded and I place a strap around it to keep the 2 pieces together.
It gets stored on the ceiling, strapped out of the way.

Canopy compressor storage
The compressor sits under the false floor, out of sight.
I’m not inflating and deflating enough to justify a permanently mounted solution.
It’s easily accessed and requires minimal effort to get it setup.

Cleaning
Paper towel sits on the elastic strap that holds the fishing rods.
This is above the fridge, with the tea towels draped to the right.
Cleaning products are placed in a container near the water pump.
This is under the false floor and neatly out of the way.

Domesticated Gypsy
Gas Bottle storage
The gas bottle is on the right side of the canopy, as far back against the storage boxes.
It doesn’t need to be removed often, making it suitable for reaching in and turning the gas on/off.

Hot Water System storage
The Joolca hot water system is stored beside the gas bottle.
It hangs on the canopy doors via eye bolts, when in use.

BBQ storage
The Weber Baby Q is placed above the drawer against the right side of the canopy.
This allows for easy access in and out of the tub, especially when it’s used daily.
The gas fittings have been modified to quick connects for easy and safe connections.
This means the Joolca and Weber use the gas hose.
The hose stays connected to the bottle and means no need to constantly mess with fittings.

3 things I wish I knew before my canopy fit-out

Plan your setup properly, once.
Butane stove and drinking water
The butane stove is stored between the fridge and Joolca.
It can easily be accessed but also isn’t taking up space closer to the front of the tub.
I also keep a secondary drinking water tank.
This 10L water tank is placed beside the fridge right at the front of the tub for easy top tups.

Table and chair storage
The table and chair slide in the tub on their side.
They sit between the weber and drinking water tank, acting as a divider.
